About Chris

Chris began his Law Enforcement career in 1985 with the North Carolina Division of Motor Vehicles Enforcement Section, and had the highest drug arrests.  He worked as an undercover narcotics officer for the Isothermal Narcotics Task Force in Rutherford County and later for the Rutherford County Sheriff’s Office.  In 2007 he was hired as a patrol officer with the Buncombe County Sheriff’s Office.

During his career, Chris worked closely with and was the lead investigating officer in many federal cases, to include those cases with the Drug Enforcement Agency, Alcohol Tobacco and Firearms, Federal Bureau of Investigation, State Bureau of Investigation and Secret Service.

He partnered with many local agency’s to conduct over 200 undercover narcotics operations.  These operations consisted of buying cocaine, crack cocaine, methamphetamine, marijuana and pills.  He also conducted over 100 narcotics searches at drug dealer’s homes, seizing over 10 pounds of crack cocaine, 4 pounds of cocaine, over 2,000 pounds of marijuana and over 1,000 pills.  Chris further investigated over 100 meth labs and received his Lab Certification from the DEA.  He seized homes, property and cars from drug dealers that were sold, with the proceeds from those sales, providing additional funding to the agency.

While assigned to working break-ins in Buncombe County, Chris worked a heavy caseload and had one of the highest arrest rates, returning property to many of the victims in the cases he worked.  Also while assigned to working break-ins, Chris was responsible for discovering the largest crack cocaine seizure in Buncombe County history.

Chris’ love for police work showed in the speed in which he advanced through the agency’s Patrol and Criminal Investigations Divisions, and continuing into the narcotics division, where he worked until he retired in 2014, with almost 30 years of service.
